Ethiopia: Ethio Telecom's tariffs

business

Ethio Telecom is the only provider of cellular services in Ethiopia. Despite the monopoly, prices for mobile communications are relatively low in the country. Even with an average rate of 5 cents, it is possible to make a decent profit on traffic termination. The main thing is to choose the most advantageous package for outgoing calls.

One Ethio Telecom SIM card costs about $1 and you immediately get a 50 cents initial loan on your account. Registration of prepaid cards is mandatory, therefore we recommend finding another source of SIM-cards. The best solution is to find a dealer on online forums or social networks, which will supply you with the cards already registered in someone's name. The cost of a minute call by default is $0.02 at rush hour and $0.01 at night. Ethio Telecom has a Prepaid offer that includes two ranges of tariff plans - Mobile Night Voice Packages and Monthly Mobile Voice + Data Tariffs.

Mobile Night Voice Packages includes such packages that are active only at night:

  • 30 min. 30 minutes for calls at $0.14.
  • 60 min. 60 minutes for calls at $0.17.
  • 120 min. 120 minutes for calls at $0.24.
  • 240 min. 240 minutes for calls at $0.35.

Night packages are not very successful in terms of termination, because at night there is always less traffic than during the day.

The Monthly Mobile Voice + Data Tariffs range provides for both, minutes for calls and mobile Internet traffic, but their main advantage is that they are active around the clock. The range has a large number of packages; let's discuss the most suitable ones for calls landing:

  • 280 min. For $2.10 you get 280 minutes for calls.
  • 450 min. For $5.25 you get 450 minutes.
  • 600 min. For $7 you get 600 minutes.
  • 830 min. For $9.45 you get 830 minutes for calls.

For termination, we recommend the 280 minutes Monthly Mobile Voice package. With average voip rates ethiopia $0.05 per minute, the earnings of an entrepreneur will be approximately $130 (from each gateway port).
