Tigo is the second largest operator of Columbia’s mobile market in terms of the subscriber base. It emerged in 2014 as a result of the merging of the two smallest operators in the country - UNE and Tigo. Tigo is currently the smallest of the three largest mobile networks in Colombia. Tigo's SIM cards are sold at operator’s stores and other retail outlets, as well as by street vendors. The prepaid starting plan is called Prepago Chip and is available in two options:
- $10 MIL. Cost — $2.9. The subscriber receives welcome bonuses - unlimited national calls and SMS and 1 GB of mobile Internet. Validity of bonuses is 7 days.
- $20 MIL. Cost - $5.8. The subscriber receives welcome bonuses - unlimited national calls and SMS and 2 GB of mobile Internet. Validity of bonuses is 15 days.
After all bonuses have been consumed, Prepago Plan 1x1 takes over by default. The cost of a one-second call within this tariff plan is 1 peso (that is 1 American cent per minute). This is a bit expensive for termination in Colombia, but you will be OK just with welcome bonuses of the starting plan.
For the operation of Tigo SIM cards, the $10 MIL starting plan would be perfect. Use welcome bonuses and a minute of a call will cost you $0.009 (provided that the gateway and voip connect mobile software operate for 5 hours a day). The terminator's profit will constitute $60 per each VoIP equipment port. The more traffic you terminate, the higher is your profit.
